Modern and well-equipped community centres, libraries, schools and shopping districts are conveniently located to serve residential neighbourhoods.
Vaughan has more than 70 places of worship welcoming diverse cultures to the community.
Through its Recreation and Culture Department, the City of Vaughan promotes an active lifestyle for the mind, body and spirit of its residents. From music programs for infants and toddlers to ongoing activities at the municipality's 13 seniors' clubs, there is something for every age and interest.
Four fitness centres offer aerobics classes, personalized training and aqua fitness programs. Special programs for youth and teens range from drop-in centres to leadership development camps. Vaughan's community centres are second to none.
The Sports Village, developed, built and operated as a public-private partnership, consists of four NHL-sized, indoor skating rinks built around an atrium with a warm 'town hall' atmosphere. This fabulous facility includes an interactive sports skills area, a wall-climbing feature, a baseball diamond, a junior ball diamond, half-court basketball, an all-season skating path and a BMX track.
For families with working parents, extended hours are now available for children at several of Vaughan's elementary schools. The Kid's Club is a 'before and after school' program with crafts, sports, games and supervised homework. During the summer, more than 10,000 children age three to 16 participate in popular day camps and summer programs.
A complete list of programs and convenient on-line registration are available through the city's Web site at
