Nicole Hyatt runs a mobile airbrush tanning service.

Hyatt owns Tan on the Run Inc. (www.tanontherun.com) a mobile airbrush tanning company. Using a unique aloe vera-based solution, Hyatt's service travels to customers' homes to create beautiful tans in just 15 minutes.

"The results of the tan are seen immediately," Hyatt says. "It's convenient, fast, private and affordable. Our clients are people who want that suntan glow without exposing their skin to dangerous UV rays."

Hyatt got into the tanning business because it is her passion. "It's a great feeling to know we're helping people look their best, while avoiding the damaging effects of the sun," she says.

Hyatt says her target market is women between the ages of 18 and 45 who care about their appearance and have some disposable income.

"People are busy these days, so our customers value our convenient and time-saving service," Hyatt says.

Her tanning solution uses a natural sugar called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts naturally with skin cells to create a radiant, golden tan that is completely safe. Hyatt says her tans go on without streaks, blotches or orange colouration and will cover scars, stretch marks and tan lines.

She says she started her own business to earn a comfortable living and to spend more time with her two-year-old son. "I needed to 'get back out there' after having my first child," Hyatt says. "Being my own boss allows me to earn money, yet not miss out on the most important period of my son's life."

Looking ahead, Hyatt plans to offer her mobile tanning service in other Canadian cities. "Airbrush tanning is a long-kept secret of models and Hollywood celebrities, but it's fairly new to Canada," she says. "There's lots of potential business out there for us."
