Mompreneur Rishma Lalani runs a baby concierge service called Itsabelly (www.itsa-belly.com).
Now, your baby can enjoy his or her very own concierge -- even before they're born.
"There's just so many things to do and to learn when you're having a baby," Rishma Lalani says. "Our company makes it easier for new parents to relax and enjoy their tiny miracle."
Lalani's business is called Itsabelly Baby Concierge (www.itsa-belly.com). It's a baby concierge service that will basically do anything and everything for expectant and new parents.
"We help new parents to navigate the world of all things maternity, newborn and toddler -- with an eco twist," Lalani says. "Our specialty areas include baby registry, nursery design and pre/post natal service sourcing."
Baby concierge and planning services are an emerging trend in North America. Itsabelly is one of the first full-serve consultancies in Canada and can personalize all services based on needs, lifestyle and budget.
Lalani got the idea for her business after spending countless hours researching and planning for her own baby needs. "I felt overwhelmed by all the decisions a new mom must make regarding gear and parenting, and that's when I recognized there was a need for a service to help ease the pressures of planning for a baby," she says.
She soon partnered with Melissa Moog, the founder of Itsabelly in the United States, to launch the first Canadian location for the company in Toronto.
The company tailors its services to each parenting stage. "Itsabelly"' services will support parents before the baby is born by helping to complete a baby registry or design a nursery. "Itsababy" services relate to the child's first year of growth by helping to make the home environment safe and arranging nanny and childcare sourcing.
"Itsaparent" is a program to help new parents embrace the most challenging and rewarding job there is. It offers tools and support to assist new parents with the transition into life with baby, including parent education, back to work planning and "green" baby living.
Lalani says she's thrilled with her new business for several reasons. "It allows me to apply my passion for helping people and gives me flexible hours so I can spend more time with my family."
Deciding to operate a home-based business came naturally to Lalani. "It allows me to easily work around my baby's schedule, which usually means I'm doing business between feedings and very late at night!" she says.
Future plans for Lalani include continuing to promote awareness about her company and educating the general public about the benefits of baby concierge services.
