SASKATOON - The president of the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan says the world's largest fertilizer producer must reach out to the aboriginal community to help meet its future employment needs.
Garth Moore says that means forging closer relationships with native groups in the province and getting more aboriginals into various trades. Moore was speaking to the Canadian Aboriginal Minerals Association Conference in Saskatoon.
PCS (TSX:POT) forecasts that it will have to fill 18,000 positions due to retirement by 2017.
About 500 PCS employees - members of the United Steelworkers - have been on strike since Aug. 8 at company operations in Saskatchewan.
Earlier this fall, Merrill Lynch cut its ratings on PCS, warning that the company faces lower earnings because of a slowdown in demand.
